The following positions have been created by our host agencies for the 2016-2017 fellows. Each placement offers an opportunity for its fellow to build capacity in the organization, develop professional skills and leadership experience, and strengthen Philadelphia’s communities.

Our 2017-2018 placements will be posted in early January.

ASAP/After School Activities Partnerships Strategic Impact Coordinator
The fellow will enhance and sustain program impact in high-need target populations by coordinating resources across ASAP’s after school initiatives – chess, Scrabble, debate and drama — and by facilitating new partnerships aligned with best practices for positive youth development. Project Description

Asociación Puertorriqueños en Marcha (APM) The Food Buying Club Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator
The fellow will develop a system to recruit, train, manage volunteers and promote the APM Food Buying Club in the community, increasing the programs capacity to serve more lower-income families . Project Description

Big Brothers Big Sisters Independence Region* Partnership Liaison
The fellow will work to move the mentoring field forward and ensure more youth have access to high quality mentors by building relationships, promoting best practices, and creating opportunities for mentoring organizations to collaborate with each other and with the Mentoring Partnership & Resource Center (MPRC). Project Description

Center for Hunger Free Communities The Network Project Assistant
The fellow will develop and implement an evaluation plan for the Network, a pilot program that aims to 1) help families reach self-sufficiency and 2) develop a model for TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) that truly leverages families out of poverty. Project Description

Education Law Center* Project Coordinator, Homeless Education Advocacy Program
The fellow will coordinate a series of legal clinics and advocacy trainings to be provided in shelters across Philadelphia, which will focus on achieving school success for children experiencing homelessness. Project Description

Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation BLAST/School Partnerships Coordinator
The fellow will facilitate engagement, communication, and cooperative work between the teacher-librarian pairs, and enable them to cement and expand their collaboration in the planning and preparation phase of the BLAST pilot . Project Description

Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation Community Cluster Fellow
The fellow will develop and standardize methodologies for the new geographical clusters of neighborhood libraries, working to enable community needs to drive library program and service development. Project Description

JEVS Human Services* GED Acceleration Project Associate
The fellow will pilot and evaluate instructional practices or techniques within JEVS youth programs offering GED instruction, disseminating lessons learned to the GED and adult literacy field. Project Description

Pennsylvania Prison Society Outreach and Empowerment Coordinator
The fellow will be responsible for overseeing and developing resources for the re-entry peer support group Hope Alive, which aims to build strength and empowerment for returning citizens through a positive support network . Project Description

Philadelphia Legal Assistance Center, Inc. Director of MLCP Community Relations
The fellow will increase the human and financial capacity of the Medical Legal Community Partnership (MLCP) to provide high volume, quality legal services to patients of community health centers through a volunteer based model. Project Description

Philadelphia Parks Alliance Youth and Recreation Program Coordinator
The fellow will expand the Philadelphia Parks Alliance’s capacity to advocate for and provide direct support to children’s recreation opportunities through the Department of Parks and Recreation. Project Description

Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania* Community Outreach Fellow
The fellow will help us to maximize outreach opportunities to expand our reach in underserved patient populations, including those who are newly-eligible for health coverage under the Affordable Care Act. Project Description

Project HOME* Community Development Fellow
The fellow will assist Project HOME staff, residents, partners, and stakeholders in identifying and analyzing properties in North Central Philly suitable for redevelopment and possible assemblage. Project Description

Springboard Collaborative Program Coordinator
The fellow will manage successful implementation of the Springboard Schoolwide pilot program integrating family engagement into class culture and reading habits into students’ homes. Project Description

Year Up* Admissions Specialist
The fellow will increase admission prospects, interviews, retention rates, and positive program outcomes for youth
 in Year Up’s professional training corps, which provides the skills, experience, and support that will empower urban young adults to reach their potential through professional careers and higher education. Project Description
