Fellows learn about politics and get advice from the Committee of 70’s David Thornburgh

Every month the Philly Fellows get dinner and a conversation with a civic leader or expert in their field working to improve lives in Philadelphia. This month's speaker was David Thornburgh, President and CEO of the Committee of 70, a nonprofit that advocates for better government. David talked about his involvement in politics, academia and nonprofits like the Committee of 70 and got to answer fellows' questions about graduate school, staying in Philadelphia, his accomplishments and future plans for improving government, civic engagement and knowing when to push ahead or quit. Looking back: 2016 Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. ’s legacy, volunteers across the country made #MLKDay a day on, instead of a day off, to strengthen their communities. Philly Fellows Leadership Development: Exploring opportunities

On a typical weekday, our Philly Fellows are working at their individual nonprofit placements, but twice each month we bring the entire cohort together for our two event series: Leadership Development Dinners and Professional Development Workshops. Last month, we were excited to host two events that focused on exploring opportunities in our fellows' current roles and future careers.
